Every year Oldsmobile in Lansing, MI, hosted a fancy dinner for all the employees who attained 25 years seniority. They were given their 25 year awards at the dinner along with this menu and seating program. This was done back in the day when corporations appreciated their skilled and non-skilled labor force. In fact, a salaried employees career was stalled, if he didn't do volunteer work in the local community in some way. Don't you roll your eyes--I'm not kidding! That really is the way it was in these big GM towns like here in Flint, MI., before the mid 1960's. When the owner of Factory Automanuals, Dan Bower, went on supervision at the old AC Spark Plug back in 1976, he was forced to give money every month to the fund for the Hurly Hospital Burn Unit. When he asked his general foreman about it, he said, "Well, that's the way it is! In fact, supervisors used to have to join the Republican Party--but we don't force it anymore". Condition of this book is excellent, and the paper jacket shows some ageing and light soiling. My theory is that someone wanted a perfect copy and even xerox copies (if they yet existed) did such poor quality that they decided to photograph each page to keep it sharp and clear. Also, the original they had, had an autograph by Olds. Anyway, this book was written as a historical tribute to Ransom E.
